Why Youâll Love This Salmon Recipe
Simple. Cooking salmon in the air fryer is easy. Just turn on your air fryer, coat the salmon in some oil and spices, then add the fish to your air fryer basket. That's it.
Quick. Youâll only need 9 minutes (plus 1-2 minutes prep time) to make this recipe. I often make this dish when Iâm running short on time and need to make a fast lunch or dinner.
Flavorful. I like to use a simple spice rub made with pantry staples to add tons of flavor to the salmon. The spice blend is actually the same one I use for my air fryer chicken thighs recipe. đ
Crispy skin. One of my favorite parts is the skin, which the air fryer cooks to crispy perfection. Itâs so good, especially with the spice rub.

What Kind of Salmon is Best?
I love eating salmon. Itâs a nutritious source of protein thatâs rich in omega-3 fatty acids and easy to cook up in a flash. My two favorite kinds are Sockeye and Coho salmon. Hereâs a quick look at what makes these varieties stand out:
Sockeye: This variety of salmon is known for its bright red flesh and intense flavor. The color comes from their diet of algae and zooplankton, which results in a high level of a good-for-you antioxidant called astaxanthin in the flesh. Sockeye salmon has firm flesh that can stand up to grilling and pan frying. Itâs also great for baking or cooking in the air fryer.
Coho salmon: Also called Silver salmon, this variety is lighter in color and has a more delicate, milder flavor. Coho salmon is an excellent choice for those new to cooking seafood or preferring subtler flavors (it doesnât have a fishy taste). While Coho doesnât have as many antioxidants as Sockeye, it is leaner, higher in protein and has more Omega-3s. The flesh is also more tender, making this variety ideal for poaching, steaming, baking or air frying.
Both Sockeye and Coho salmon are wild-caught varieties from the Pacific Ocean, which is a healthier choice if you plan to eat salmon regularly. Wild caught salmon is a bit more expensive, but it doesnât have the antibiotics or other contaminants frequently found in farmed fish.
